DAY 38: Celebrating Scholars – Sarah Niemi

I am the 2020 recipient of the Mary Ellen Chott-Mahre Scholarship. I have been a member of St. John Parish in Naches my entire life and have been an altar server there for the last nine years.
I am a 2020 graduate of La Salle High School and served as senior class president. While in high school I participated in band, volleyball, and softball. I am a member of the National Honor Society, lettered in academics and earned First Honors every semester of high school.
I am currently a freshman at Saint Martin’s University in Lacey, Washington, and I am planning to major in elementary education. After earning my bachelor’s degree, I hope to be accepted into the Pacific Alliance for Catholic Education (PACE) Program at the University of Portland to earn a master’s degree. My goal is to teach third grade in a Catholic grade school.
I am honored to be the recipient of the Mary Ellen Chott-Mahre Scholarship. This scholarship has had a huge impact in my life, helping to make my dream of attending a Catholic University a reality. I very much appreciate the opportunity this scholarship has provided me.
