In keeping with our mission of supporting Catholic education in Central Washington and using funds raised at the 2014 Celebration of Faith event, the Central Washington Catholic Foundation funded 103 tuition assistance grants of $1000 to $1500 each to new and returning enrollees in the eight Catholic schools in Central Washington for the 2015-16 school year. As a result of the 2015 Celebration of Faith event, we will renew the grants to returning (qualified) TAP recipients and fund additional grants to students new to the schools for the 2016-17 school year. Here is a brief outline of the process:
Each school designates a TAP Coordinator who will be responsible to assist families with the application process and submit the application paperwork to CWCF by the April 30, 2016 deadline for returning TAP recipients and by the July 1, 2016 deadline for new students. Each school designates and publishes an internal deadline for families to submit their paperwork to the TAP Coordinator so that there is adequate time to review and submit to CWCF by the deadlines.
The application process begins January 4 for renewals and May 1 for new students. The application in English and Spanish is available through www.cwcatholicfoundation.org/tuition. Each family must complete the application on the computer, then print it off. Hand-written applications will not be accepted. TAP Coordinators may assist the parents with this process. Parents then take the printed application to the school that they are applying for enrollment in. With the application, they take copies of all required documents (tax forms, letters, child support statements, etc.) to the TAP Coordinator who checks applications for accuracy and completeness and sends to CWCF by the deadline. If the family is claiming extraordinary circumstances, the application must be signed by the school principal. The TAP Coordinator will ensure that only applications for returning TAP recipients and new enrollees are sent to CWCF .
Completed applications received by CWCF by the deadlines are processed to produce an Adjusted Available Income (AAI) figure. Grants are awarded based on the AAI figures until the available funds are expended.
Award letters are mailed to the parents with copies emailed to the school.
In September, CWCF sends a spreadsheet to each school listing the students from their school who were awarded grants. The TAP Coordinator verifies that each student is indeed enrolled in the school and sends the spreadsheet back to CWCF.
Then CWCF cuts the checks to the schools based on the number of verified enrollees.
